The VN-17 is a new generation infantry armored fighting vehicle developed by NORINCO to support land forces on the battlefield during assault operations. The 30-ton class heavyweight tracked armored vehicle leverages the VT-5 light tank chassis but the engine has been placed in the front compartment with the rear compartment intended for troops transport. The vehicle features improved armor as well as an unmanned turret fitted with a 30mm cannon and two HJ-12 anti-tank missiles. The VN-17 armored vehicle was first showcased by China in August 2017.
