The Zuzana is a cost-effective 155mm 45 or 52-caliber self-propelled howitzer (SPH) based on a high mobility 8x8 wheeled chassis and featuring an automatic loading system. It is also available mounted on tracked T-72 main battle tank chassis instead of the 8x8 chassis as well as powered by western engines. Its crew is protected against Nuclear, Bacteriological and Chemical (NBC) agents and its lightweight armor protects the crew against small arms fire and artillery shell fragments. The turret is compliant with NATO STANAG 4569 Level 4 protection. The 155mm weapon system is capable of carrying out multiple round simultaneous impact (MRSI) attacks. The Zuzana A1 cannon can fire NATO compliant artillery rounds and is capable of direct fire engagements. The Zuzana A1 features fully digital fire control system with digital maps, inertial navigation system (INS) and muzzle velocity radar. Additional equipment includes air conditioning.

The 155mm cannon can fire up to six rounds per minute per one minute, 16 rounds during three minutes or two rounds per minute in sustained mode. Its range is 5 to 39 kilometers or 41 kilometers firing rocket assisted projectiles (RAPs). The 32-ton vehicle is powered by a MAN D28 76 LF diesel engine developing 338 KW of power and a top speed of 80 kph on-road. The SpGH Zuzana 2 is a similar artillery system fitted with a Tatra T-3B-928.70 diesel engine rated at 330 KW and a Tatra gearbox. The Zuzana was developed by Slovakia in the late 1990s and is currently in service in limited numbers with the Armies of Slovakia, Greece and Cyprus and is being offered for the export market. The Zuzana 2000G (SpGH Zuzana A1) purchased by Greece (and Cyprus?) features a 52-caliber howitzer instead of the original 45-caliber cannon.
