The Future Integrated Soldier Technology (FIST) is a project that aims to provide an integrated fighting system to British infantry. The FIST will be adopted by dismounted fighting forces of Royal Marines, Royal Air Force, and the British Army.

The FIST system will enhance effectiveness of individuals committed to ground close combat. It will feature all weather surveillance and target acquisition capability, superior firepower, range, accuracy and lethality over current infantry weapons, sustainability through reduced weight and increased robustness and reliability, and wideband integrated communications. Thanks to FIST, the British infantryman will be netted to other infantryman an weapon platforms achieving unprecedented effectiveness.

The first FIST-equipped British military units will achieve initial operational capability in 2009 (or 2010). The Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom plans to purchase up to 29,000 (35,000?) FIST systems with export orders anticipated. The total value of the FIST program including export customers may reach $10 billion.
