The Onyx is an electrically-powered exoskeleton being developed by Lockheed Martin to meet the requirements of the US Army. The Onyx is applied to the lower-body and also features Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in order to augment human strength and endurance. The system consists of electro-mechanical knee actuators, a suite of sensors and a computer that utilizes AI to determine the right time to assist the human operator. The Onyx system is scheduled to be tested in 2019.
