The RSG60 is a lightweight, flexible 60mm mortar system developed by Rheinmetall for the Armed Forces of Germany. The RSG60 mortar is suitable for both regular Army units and Special Operations forces which require a lighter design making by separating the base plate reducing the weight from 15.8 kg (regular army) to 6.8 kg (commando). The standard variant has a maximum firing range of 3,200 meters and the commando one can hit targets at up to 2,000 meters. The new mortar system development started in October 2017 and was unveiled in August 2019 after successfully completing test firings.
