PW535E Engine Successfully Completes First Run on Phenom 300

NBAA - ATLANTA, Ga., Sept. 24, 2007 - Pratt & Whitney Canada's new PW535E turbofan engine for Embraer's Phenom 300 light business jet has crossed the first run milestone, reaching its full takeoff thrust of 3,360 pounds at the company's test facilities in Longueuil, Que. Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) is a United Technologies (NYSE: UTX) company.

"The PW535E development program is progressing very well, as confirmed by this key milestone," said Dan Breitman, Vice President, Turbofan Development, P&WC. "With all performance expectations met to date, we now look forward to working with Embraer to bring the PW535E to market."

The PW535E turbofan was chosen by Embraer in May 2005 to power the Phenom 300. This new member in the successful PW500 engine family features advanced technologies in the turbine and compressor areas that increase thrust and improve fuel consumption. The PW535E engine is also equipped with full-authority digital engine control (FADEC). Certification of the PW535E is targeted for the third quarter of 2008.
