Turkish Airlines Takes Delivery of Second A310-300 Converted Freighter Aircraft

Turkish Airlines took delivery of the second of its three Airbus A310-300Fs at EADS EFW´s facility in Dresden, Germany. The airframe bearing the Manufacturer Serial Number (MSN) 478 was formerly operated by the Turkish airline itself as a passenger aircraft. The conversion into freighter configuration started in early November 2007. Turkish Airlines` first A310-600 aircraft bearing the MSN 476 was the 100th conversion performed by EFW and was delivered in November 2007. These conversions are followed by a third one starting in July 2008.

Since the start of the freighter conversion in Dresden twelve years ago, we managed to build a truly worldwide customer base. But of course it is important to succeed in growing markets such as Turkey, to ensure the future of our Dresden facility”, said Dr. Andreas Sperl, President and CEO of EADS EFW.

As of today, EADS has delivered a total of 156 converted freighter aircraft to almost 30 customers worldwide. EFW, headquartered in Dresden, Germany, with a workforce of about 1,200 is the centre of competence for Airbus passenger to freighter conversion within EADS.
