Russian Strategic Aviation Fleet Will Benefit from New Aircraft Types and Engines

The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Anton Alikhanov spoke about the upcoming renewal of the fleet of strategic aviation aircraft, the creation of new machines and types of engines.

"Strategic aviation will have to be significantly updated, new aircraft and new types of engines are being created, which were developed here in Samara. They will be put on combat duty, on those aircraft that will be delivered to our Armed Forces," Alikhanov told journalists during a visit to PJSC "UEC-Kuznetsov" on Friday.

He also noted that the task of loading existing capacities is as important as the creation of new developments. The head of the department stated that the issue of reserve capacities will be discussed with Roscosmos and the Ministry of Defense.

Earlier, Russia presented an updated Russian strategic missile carrier Tu-160M2. According to the columnist of The National Interest magazine Brandon Weichert, the aircraft will give Russia an advantage over Western countries.
